The Pasadena, California Garden Conservancy Open Day takes place this Sunday, April 29. Her’s a quote from the GC facebook page: “Garden host Regina Drucker shared this image of her Pavilion San Rafael, taken by photographer Julius Shulman and his partner, Juergen Nogai. ‘For 70 years, Shulman steadily created one of the most comprehensive visual chronologies of modern architecture and the development of the Los Angeles region,’ as quoted by the J. Paul Getty Museum website. Stands of sacred bamboo from the last century, a gnarled Chinese fringe tree, and ancient oaks envelop you and reflect in the pool from the pagoda at this spectacular property.”

The new outdoor classroom at the gardens! Students and teachers will be able to come participate in hands-on field trips at the botanical gardens. This area is brand-new and still in development, but we have high hopes for its future in learning. The mural to right is hand-crafted work from one of our fabulous volunteers, Irene. She is helping decorate the gardens and has created one for the medical botany section and is working on a third.
