How I love the fall garden.

ediblegardensla: School gardens.  I teach edible gardening at three schools in Los Angeles, grades pre k - 6.  I love watching the light go on inside the students as they begin to make the connection between garden and table.  The first classes focus on soil and how soil is the most important part of starting a garden.  We talk about how if the soil isn’t filled with rich nutrients, our plants will not flourish.  We spend lots of time working in the soil, hands arms and all. We then plant the first tender seedlings, in this case peas.
