Echeveria ballerina? No! Echeveria runyonii. Botanical Conservatory. UC Davis, 03-19-12.
Okay. I had no idea if this was even an Echeveria, but fuzzytrees informed me this is an Echeveria runyonii. I found this plant so pretty; it reminded me of a ballerina, the leaves like a tutu. Too too, no?

Melocactus violaceus: Botanical Conservatory. UC Davis, 03-19-12.
A very good, old friend of mine who collects rare succulents (I shared a couple of pictures of his “garden” about two weeks ago) found this cactus fascinating since it is not green like all the rest. I must say, I am attracted to the colors, especially since yellow is my favorite “real” color. My preferences are black, white, gray.
