readyset-grow:

some of my potatoes lovin up the sun.
a mix of red and yeller.
I don’t fuss with ”hilling up” or other stage growing methods.
4 inches deep into rich loose soil in early spring. sometimes late winter.
bury with lots of mulch, then leave em alone.
water when needed. which shouldn’t be much with a heavy mulch situation.
weed if it looks like an overtaking, otherwise leave shit alone.
start diggin out yummy taters from June on…. depending on your successions.
The foliage dyes back to let you know when they are ready.
Don’t be in a hurry to dig them all out at once.
they will be fine in the soil.
if you get blight, dig the crop out before it makes it way down the stalk.
even if that means an early pull, its better small taters then none.
besides that gloom…backyard potatoes are so so so good!
totally fun to pull out of the ground!
