Released ladybugs for the third time already this warm season. That’s, what, 900 ladybugs? The garden is noticeably pest free, and the girls are noticeably happy.

Cypripedium Kentuckiense, Kentucky Lady’s Slipper
Family: Orchidaceae
Cypripedium Kentuckiense has the largest flower in the genus Cypripedium. The petals and sepals are greenish striped and mottled with purple while the very large lip, or pouch, is a creamy ivory or pale yellow. The plant can be up to 70 cm tall and has bract leaf-like leaves that are up to 12 cm long. Each plant is usually single-flowered.

Family IRIDACEAE
Perennial herb, native to SE China, often cultivated in gardens. The seeds cluster superficially resemble a blackberry, hence the English common name.

Agastache occidentalis making its first appearance in the garden this year. Will definitely be saving seed of this one. Those inflorescences are 2” long.
